Melvin O. Johnson, 60, Couderay, WI, died May 7, 1978 at Rusk County Memorial Hospital, Ladysmith, WI, following a four month illness.

Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 24, 1917 at Petersburg, ND and resided there about 30 years. He was in the navy four years during WWII after which he worked as clerk and foreman in a Chicago post office. He was married to Bertha Hoods June 4, 1949 at Minneapolis.

Mr. Johnson was a member of Dane DeRosen Post American Legion in Radisson and also served as supervisor on the Couderay town board.

Surviving his his wife; two sons, Ronald of Couderay and Les of Appleton, WI; two daughters Shirley Jonson of Minneapolis and Mrs. Wm. Sparks of Chicago; also two grandchildren; his mother, Mary Johnson of Petersburg, ND; four brothers Arnold of Petersburg, Bernard of Decatur, GA, Jennings of Chicago, and Harold of Fargo, ND; two sisters Mrs. T (Edna) Swendseid of Hillboro, ND and Mrs. M (Lois) Partz of Erie, ND.

Funeral services at the United Presbyterian Church in Couderay. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Couderay.
