Eugene Bryan Caldwell, 79, of 816 Front St., Princeton, died Thursday in a Princeton hospital following a short illness. Born in Bluefield, he was the son of the late John and Virginia Brown Caldwell. He was a deputy assessor for Mercer County, a member of the First Christian Church, a member of the Mercer AF&AM Lodge No. 160, Bluefield, and was a member of the Princeton Old Guard.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Grace Haynes Caldwell; one son, Eugene B. Caldwell, Jr., of Knoxville. Tenn.; five daughters, Mrs. Jim (Charlotte) Dearhart, Mrs. Imogene Scarberry, Mrs. Linda Austin, Miss Patricia Caldwell and Mrs. Joyce Myers, all of Princeton; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Services will be conducted Saturday at 11 am, from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory in Princeton with Rev. Richard Flowers officiating.
Interment will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Members of the Mercer AF&AM Lodge No. 160, Bluefield, will conduct graveside services and serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends today from 1-4 pm, at the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road, Princeton.
