Elmer Hoffheins Sr.
Elmer P. Hoffheins Sr., 65, of 313 Centennial Avenue, died Saturday at 9:50 a.m. at his home. He retired three years ago from Hoffheins Brothers, contractors, where he had been employed 17 years. He was a son of the late Edward and Ida Alwine Hoffheins. Mr. Hoffheins was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and Sunday school. His first wife, Mrs. Gertrude Grace Bolden Hoffheins, died in 1948. He is survived by his second wife, Mrs. Ethel Sheeley [Sheely, ed.] Hoffheins; a son, Elmer P. Hoffheins Jr., 516 North Franklin Street; five daughters, Mrs. Robert Raubenstine, Hanover R.D. 1; Mrs. William Stock, New Oxford, Mrs. Fred Howe, New Oxford R.D. 1; and Susan J. and Sarah J. Hoffheins at home; eight grandchildren and five brothers and sisters. Lewis Hoffheins, 639 Frederick street; Clair Hoffheins, 264 Fleming Avenue; Clarence Hoffheins, 974 Carlisle street; Mrs. Mable Kopp, Wilmar avenue; and Mrs. Margie Dubbs, 934 Carlisle Street. The Rev. Dr. Howard J. McCarney, his pastor, will conduct the funeral services tomorrow at 2 p.m. at St. Matthew Church. The body will lie in state at the church tomorrow from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Abbottstown. Friends may call at the Wetzel funeral home, Carlisle Street, this evening.
