WESLEY A.6 COE (Rev. John Jr.5, Capt. John4, Daniel3, Timothy2, Timothy1) was born December 2, 1823, in Guilford County, NC. As a young man he went to Florida where he attended school while staying with his uncle Jesse Coe. He later returned to Guilford County, where he worked as a blacksmith. During the Civil War he served as a private with Company F, 4th Regiment of North Carolina Home Guards, Confederate Army. Paroled by the Union Army at Greensboro, May 8, 1865, his death occurred December 30, 1899, in Guilford County. Burial was at Mt. Moriah Methodist Church Cemetery, on Route 421, near Greensboro. He was a member of the Masonic Order.

His epitath reads: "Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord . . . ."

He married February 16, 1846, in Randolph County, NC, Martitia Currie Wood, born March 27, 1824, died November 12, 1857, daughter of Colonel John and Eleanor (Walker) Wood. Burial was at Mt. Moriah Methodist Church Cemetery.
