WILLIAM ELMER RUTLEDGE WAS THE SIBLING OF LEO AND EDGAR GALE RUTLEDGE.

CHURCH HILL – William Elmer (W. E.) Rutledge, Jr. passed away Sunday (July 27, 2008) at Church Hill Health Care & Rehab Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Rutledge was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and a member of Oak Dale Baptist Church. He was a retired painter and a member of Bellamy Memorial Lodge, Order of Odd Fellows.
He was preceded in death by his second wife Stella Kate Larkins Rutledge; parents William Elmer, Sr. and Margie Gilreath Rutledge; and brother, Gale Rutledge.
He is survived by one daughter Rebecca Jane Peters, Surgoinsville; two grandchildren Jared and Jennifer Peters; one great-grandson Elijah Lee Peters; one brother, Leo Rutledge and wife Loretta, Jonesboro, Indiana; special friend, Rebecca Griggs; and first wife Mamie Ruth Calton Rutledge.
Graveside services were conducted Thursday, July 31, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Oak Dale Cemetery with Elder Fred Gilreath officiating.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
Memorials are to be made to Amis Chapel United Methodist Church or Oak Dale Baptist Church.
Johnson Funeral Home served the Rutledge family.
