Virgil W. Arbaugh, 71, of Whitmer, died November 17, 1993 in Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, W.Va., after a brief illness.

Mr. Arbaugh was born October 4, 1922 at Cherry Grove, W.Va. and was the son of the late Grover and Mintie Arbogast Arbaugh.

He worked for the Interstate Lumber Co. at Bartow for 30 years as a truck driver.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Whitmer United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dairy Ruth Vandevander in 1968.

On June 6, 1969, he married Katherine Judy, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Charlene Burns of Baltimore, Md., Linda Vandevander of Cherry Grove, W.Va. and Jo Ann Hedrick of Elkins, W.Va.; five sons, Woodrow, Christopher and Tony Arbaugh, all of Cherry Grove, W.Va., Larry Arbaugh of Riverton and Steve Arbaugh of Mount Jackson; four stepdaughters, Sue Vance of Onego, W.Va., Louise Bennett of Verona, Janice Long of Davis, W.Va. and Annas Turner of Whitmer; a step son, Dwyer Judy of Whitmer of Whitmer; two sisters, Ardith White of Riverton and Dovie Sites of Whitmer; one half sister, Vivian Huffman of Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg, W.Va.; 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, two foster grandsons and one foster great-grandson.

The Rev. Earl Bible will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Friday at Whitmer United Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery at Job, W.Va.

The family will receive friends from 7 -9 p.m. today at Kimble Funeral Home in Franklin.
