Claude Joseph Kerce, 86, was born October 28, 1925, in Van Buren, Arkansas, to his parents, George and Adel Kerce and passed away November 30, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.

Joe, a U.S. Navy Retiree, was fiercely patriotic and was also very proud of the service that he gave to his country. A World War II veteran, Joe also fought in the Korean War Conflict being part of the "Bay of Pigs" battle.

Joe received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal and the China Service Medal.

He was also a survivor of the New London School Explosion of March 1937.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Wanda Ellie; daughter, Ellie Jo Jeanotte and husband, Terry Lee; sons, George Joseph Kerce and wife, Deborah Lynn and David Wayne Kerce; grandson, Michael Joseph Kerce; granddaughters, Jessica Lea Kerce, Lacee Lee Jeanotte and Christi Jo Johnston and husband, Louis James; two great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; sister, Glenda Mayes and husband, Glen; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM, Monday, December 5, 2011 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Upshur County, TX.
