Sharon Lorraine Smith, 64, was born on December 7, 1947 in Alamosa, Colorado to Leland Reece and Hannah Brady.

She was married to Terryl J. Smith on June 7, 1968 in the Salt Lake City Temple. She passed away quietly at her home in Alamosa after a very long illness.

Sharon was a graduate of Ricks College and later Adams State College with a teaching degree. Her biggest joy in life was being a wife and mother. She worked as a substitute teacher for many years in the Alamosa Schools and particularly enjoyed working at Evans Elementary.

She also had a great love for genealogy. Sharon was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her favorite responsibilities being involved with music. Sharon had a very strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and received much comfort through her health struggles through this belief and the priesthood blessings she received.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Reese and Hannah Brady and mother-in-law ViDella Smith.

She is survived by her husband Terryl J. Smith and children Rocky and Trinette Southway and Leland and Lisa Smith, seven grandchildren Dustin, Nicole, Casandra Southway and Whitney, Alex, Kalli, Kash Smith and new baby girl Smith that was born June 21, father-in-law Jack Smith. She is also survived by sisters and brothers Ella Westley, Judith Hammond, Nancy Curtis, Robert (Brenda) Brady, Tony (Karla) Brady and Danny (Debbie) Brady, brothers and sisters-in-law Gayland (Cindy) Smith, Debra (Larry) Hoover, Morris (Cindy) Smith and Nancy (David) Hales.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa and from 9-10 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 at the LDS church relief society room, located on 907 Weber. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at the Manassa Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the LDS Missionary or Humanitarian funds. Arrangements are in care of Rogers Family Mortuary of Alamosa.
