Mr. Tompkins was born in Conway a son of the late John Franklin Tompkins Jr. and the late Liza Thompkins Tompkins and special parents the late Lewis and Velma Causey Thompkins. He graduated from Conway High School and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. Mr. Tompkins was a retiree of Santee Cooper where he served as supervisor of the transmission department and was a member of Prospect Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mr. Tompkins was preceded in death by a son, Micah Tompkins.
