Rev. Evans was known by his middle name Grant. He was graduated from McAllister College in Minnesota in 1889, after which he was graduated from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago I 1892. He was licensed to preach in 1893, and the ordained to Presbyterian ministry in 1894 by the Presbytery of Cedar Rapids (Iowa). He was the pastor for the Grimes and Ridgedale, Iowa Presbyterian congregations (1893-1894). And then for the congregations in Atkins and Newhall, Iowa (1895-1900), after which he pastored the congregation in Derby, Iowa.
