Death of Mrs Welliver
The sad news was received here last Saturday of the death in Danville of Mrs Libbie Welliver, wife of W W Welliver, a prominent hardware merchant of that place, who formerly resided in Nanticoke. Mrs Welliver was a Pittston lady. She was a daughter of the late Owen D Lewis. Her mother, Mrs Mary Lewis, still resides on Market street. For a number of years Mrs Welliver was a teacher in the Pittston schools, and later she taught school in Nanticoke. Five years ago she was married to Mr Welliver. For a short time the family resided in Nanticoke, but for the past few years they have had a pleasant home in Danville. About three months ago Mrs Welliver gave birth to a baby daughter, since which time she has been in a serious condition. The best medical skill and other care was bestowed upon her, her mother being in constant attendance, but they resulted only in prolonging her life for a tie. As a former resident of this place and member of one of the old Pittston families, Mrs Welliver was widely known, and the news of her untimely death has caused much sorrow. She was 31 years of age. Her husband and infant daughter mentioned above survive her, as do her mother and the following brothers and sister: Mine Inspector John M Lewis, of Hazleton; Lincoln Lewis, of Wyoming; Horace and Jennie Lewis, of this place.
