August Hinton "Augie" Hagemeister, of Phillips, Nebraska, passed away Monday, July 2, 2012, at St. Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, Nebraska. August, the son of August and Maggie May (Hinton) Hagemeister, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska, on July 17, 1934.

Augie grew up on the family farm near of Aurora, Nebraska and graduated from Aurora (NE.) High School. Augie served in the U.S. Army from 1956-58. After his discharge, he returned to farm in Hamilton County, Nebraska.

On June 1, 1963, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Catherine "Liz" Niedfelt at Messiah Lutheran Church. Grand Island, Nebraska. Augie was a lifelong farmer of Hamilton County, Nebraska. They lived in Grand Island, Nebraska for a short time after they were first married. After their son, Ronnie, was born they moved to a farm north of Aurora, Nebraska until 1970. They then moved to a farm near Phillips, Nebraska, where they have lived the last 42 years.

Augie was a charter member of the Phillips (NE.) Lions Club. He enjoyed attending his morning coffee group, auctions and garage sales. He loved collecting antique cars and farm toys. Augie and Liz were members of a card club and he especially enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family.

Augie was preceded in death by: parents, son, Ronald Hagemeister; brothers, Ervin, Orvis, Glen and Gene Hagemeister and sisters, Lorena Eicher and Ruby Forte.

Augis survivors are: wife, Elizabeth Catherine "Liz" (Niedfelt) Hagemeister of Phillips, Nebraska; son, Michael (Sally) Hagemeister of Arlington, Nebraska; daughter, Debra (Jason) Galindo of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Hagemeister of Phillips, Nebraska; grandchildren, Kyle and Kayla Lynn Hagemeister, Madison Ann and Mackenzie Ann Hagemeister and Geoffrey and Isabella Galindo; sister, Doris Iliff of Aurora, Nebraska and a host of family and friends.

Interment was in the Phillips Cemetery, Philips, NE.
