Born on March 11, 1939, in Peoria, Ill., to Orville E. and Ethel Wirth Forquer, she married James Burton on Jan. 9, 1959, in Peoria, Ill. He preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 2000.
Surviving are two sons, Steve Burton of Peoria, Ill., and Brett (Kourtney) Burton of Washington, Ill.; two grandsons, Carter Burton and Cole Burton; two brothers, Pete (Wanda) Forquer and Jimmy (Pat) McGovern, both of Peoria, Ill.; and four sisters, Barb (Joe) Polenc of Plainfield, Ill., Marilyn (Graham) Alcott of Napa Valley, Calif., Sandy Marchand of El Paso, Ill., and Pat Pinyan of Peoria, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Red McGovern.
Leona was a kitchen manager at Lou's Drive-In in Peoria for over 10 years and previously worked as an administrative secretary at Pearl Insurance in Peoria Heights for a number of years.
She was a charter member of the Church of St. Andrew the Apostle in Peoria, where she also was a member of the vestry.
She had a deep interest in her family, her church community and enjoyed cooking. She also enjoyed supporting her sons and grandsons during their sporting events.
Burial will be in Christ Church Limestone Cemetery.
