GORRINGE, PIONEER DIES OF PARALYSIS

Railroad Man and Farm Expert Taken by Death Last Night.

C.W. Gorringe, aged 83, a pioneer railroad man and resident of Spokane, died last night at St. Luke's hospital after a long illness from paralysis.

Born in Barbadoes, British West Indies, Mr. Gorringe came to the United States and served as a naval officer during the Civil war.

Former Railroad Man.

Following the war he served for the Louisville & Nashville railroad as general freight agent at New Orleans. Later he became associated with A.M. Cannon and Paul F. Moore in the building of new railroads in the west.

In 1891 Mr. Gorringe became associated with the Hypotheekbank and for nine years served as farm expert. He later joined the B.L. Gordon company. He is survived by his widow, Jennie K.; one daughter, Loury Gorringe, and one son, W.S. Gorringe, all at the family home, S601 Maple street.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow at Smith & Co's.

GORRINGE – Charles W. Gorringe, age 84 veteran, railroad man, died last night at St. Lukes's hospital after a short illness. He had resided in Spokane for 12 years and is survived by his wife, Jennie K., at the home, S604 Maple street. Funeral services will be held for him tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock at Smith & Co's, the Rev. W.A.A. Shipway officiating. Interment at Riverside Park.
