James Fuller Anderson, 69, passed away on Sunday (July 1, 2012) at his residence.

He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins county and a member of First Baptist Church of Church Hill where he rededicated his life in 2004. Mr. Anderson graduated from Church Hill High School and East Tennessee State University where he was the co captain of the 1966 football team. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant in the Republic of South Korea. Jim was the head football coach of Rye Cove High School in Rye Cove, VA and Surgoinsville High School. He was awarded the Honor Medal in the scouts for demonstrating unusual heroism and skill in saving or attempting to save life at considerable risk to himself. He was employed as General Manager of Holston Business Development Center with 31 years of service as an Industrial recruiter, and retired from the State of Tennessee. The big joy of his life was helping people get jobs. He enjoyed flying, farming, hunting, and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Fuller and Frances Anderson, and brother, Fred Anderson.

He is survived by his wife of 47 wonderful years, Nancy Elizabeth Anderson, son, James Fuller Anderson, Jr. and his wife Solveig of Chapel Hill, NC, daughters; Sara Anderson Webb of Kingsport, DeWana Anderson, DMV of Carboro, NC, Mary Anderson Misciagna and her husband, Rich of Kingsport, brother, Doyle Anderson and wife, Bobbie, grandchildren; Kasey Webb, Savanna Misciagna, Giovanni Misciagna, Grace Misciagna, Caroline Anderson, Juni Anderson, and Zoe Anderson, several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 4 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mitch Russell officiating.

Graveside services with Military honors will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Everyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 A.M. to go in procession.

Pallbearers will be Kent Anderson, Jack Lawson, Donnie Lawson, Damon Lawson, H.S. Bellamy, and Ben Morelock. Honorary bearers will be P.C. Snapp and Dr. Bill Locke.

The family would like to thank the VA center in Johnson City and Amedysis Home Health Care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
