Ralph J. "Happy" Appie, age 80, of Crystal River, Fla., passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012, at Hospice of Citrus County unit of Citrus Memorial hospital in Inverness, Fla.
Born June 23, 1932, in Dearborn, Mich., to Roy and Mary (Grobleski) Appie, he came here 40 years ago from New Port Richey, Fla. He was a retired police officer with the city of Cocoa, Fla., and a Mason in Citrus County, Fla. He was a musician, a pilot and a U.S. Army veteran of Korea.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Harriet, in November 1995.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012, at the Oakridge Cemetery in Inverness, Fla., under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home Crystal River, Fla.
