Civil War Veteran, Co. B, 4th Iowa Cavalry. Enlisted, Earlville, Iowa, September 21,1861. Promoted to 7th Corporal, January 1,1862. Reduced to ranks, August 1, 1862, cause not given. Promoted to 7th Corporal, January 1, 1863. Promoted 6th Corporal, November 1, 1863. Reenlisted, Veteran, December 12, 1863. Promoted 2nd Corporal, December 15, 1864. Promoted 6th Sergeant May 1, 1865. Mustered out with Company, Atlanta, Ga.

Son of Thomas & Mary Agard Eldridge.

Obit; Caleb Eldridge, a veteran of 80 years, died Saturday at his home in Hunts Hollow after an illness of five years. Mr Eldridge was born in Naples, one of three sons of Thomas Eldridge, of whom now only two, Barber and Jerry of Naples, are living. Before the Civil War, Caleb moved to Iowa, and there enlisted and served in Co. B, 4th Iowa Cavalry. He was a brave and enthusiastic soldier, was wounded and much reduced by illness and hardships. He came back to Naples in the eighties and in 1891 married, Mrs William Bartholomeow a soldiers widow who died two years ago.
