Jack A. Grasse, 83, of Howards Grove, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Jack was born June 18, 1929 in Sheboygan to the late Karl E. and Alice J. (Kriplean) Grasse. He attended school at Bethlehem Lutheran and graduated from Central High School in Sheboygan. Jack served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, serving from 1951 until 1955. He served aboard the USS Radford DDE 446 Pacific Fleet. He attained the rank of Machinist Mate 2nd Class. He also took part in the first hydrogen bomb test at Antiwetoc Island in the Pacific, near the equator. On August 10, 1957 he married the former Rogene M. Mahnke at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. She preceded him in death on May 10, 1990. Jack was employed by the Vollrath Company as a draftsman from 1956 until retirement in 1992. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Howards Grove, the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center and the Sheboygan County Genealogical Society.

Survivors include his daughter, Dawn (Michael) Roelse, and their children, Benjamin (Heather) Roelse and Jason (Krystal Rinehart, fiancée) Roelse; his son, Mark (Lori) Grasse and their children, Kimberlee (Frank Batt) Grasse, Ashley Grasse and Jaris Grasse; one brother, Tom (Millie) Grasse and a very special friend, Gilda Becker. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Dorothy B. (Kramer) Grasse, sister Ruth (Paul) Willadsen and half sister, Carol (Edwin) Blanchar.

A funeral service for Jack will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church (W2870 Hwy 32, Howards Grove) with the Rev. Darrel Bergelin officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, at the church, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment to follow in the Lutheran Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established in his name for Trinity Lutheran Church.
