...Charles William Neubert was my grandfather and he was the son of Julius Robert Neubert. I also know...that Julius Robert Neubert immigrated from Dresden Germany with his brother to the United States when they were about eighteen years of age. The story was that they did not want to have to serve in the army as was required by all German youths when they reached eighteen. The brothers came to the United States and after their arrival...My great grandfather (JRN) stayed in Ohio but his brother went West....
...My grandfather, Charles William Neubert was a son of Julius Robert Neubert. His birthday was Nov. 22, 1857 and he died on August 19, 1929 at the US Naval hospital at the US Marine Barracks, Parris Island, SC....
...It was my understanding that the house James and Louella Neubert now live in was built by my grandfather William and was where he and my mother lived until they moved to Ada...it must have been when my mother entered ONU or shortly after. Mr mother graduated from ONU in 1908 and was married to my father on Nov. 25, 1908 at Mineral Ridge, Ohio in my father's parent's home on Thanksgiving Day. When my grandfather William died...my mother told me then that the house had been her home and had been built by my grandfather...it might have been Uncle Harmon who would have helped him.
Mr mother graduated from ONU with BS degree. My father was an Engineering student at ONU...but I think he did not graduate as he left to accept a 2nd Lt's Commission 2 Feb. 1909....
After my mother's marriage to my father, Arthur J. White, my grandfather Willam went to live with my father's parents at Mineral Ridge, Ohio...(after) several years he moved to Brandenton, Florida. He would visit us periodically. I remember he visited us once in Panama around 1913...he took me down to see the locks of the Canal. Have several pictures of him taken in Panama and one of him taken with my mother when they were on a trip on the Canal in a tugboat named OHIO....
...I am the only daughter of Arthur J. and Grace Eva Neubert White. I was born on July 7, 1910 at the Marine Barracks, Navy Yard....(In) 1933-34...I was invited for dinner one evening by the commanding officer of the Barracks. Upon arriving at his quarters, his wife took me to a bedroom to leave my coat and I turned and told her "this is the room I was born in!" My mother had told me of its location....it was near the end of my three years in Law School. ...I entered George Washington University, Washington DC in 1928 and graduated with an A.B. degree in 1932 and an LLB in Law in 1934. I passed the District of Columbia Bar in 1935 and was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of The District of Coumbia (not the U.S. Supreme Court) and the Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia. I then took the South Carolina Bar and was admitted to practice before the courts of South Carolina in 1936. I opened my office in February 1937 in Beaufort SC and have been in the active practice ever since, specialized (in) the Tax Law, Estates and Trust, general practice, but no trial work....
Lastly, I an an only child of A. J. and Grace E. White. I have never married, so the Charles Wm Neubert line has ended with me. He had 2 sons who died as infants.... THE ANCESTORS..., Nancy (Ernsberger) Copley, July 1991, pgs. 49-51
