KINSTON - Max William "Highroller" Turner Jr., 63, retired truck driver of Kinston, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Vidant Hospice in Greenville after a valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Emily Stallings Turner of the home, his mother Minnie Eakes Harris of Kinston and three daughters: Constancia R.M. Gardner of Shrewsberry, MA: Cher Tranbarger Pridgen of Bailey : Kelly Varnell Grady of La Grange and three sons Pablo Rios-Maldanado of Wilson, Mario Rio-Maldanado of Greenville ,Bryon Varnell of Rocky Mount; three sisters, Nancy Hill of Kinston; Peggy Stancill of Grifton, Mary Elizabeth Jones of Trenton: one brother Robert Lee Harris Jr. of Deep Run and five grandchildren, Abby, Cody, Hannah, Maegan and Summer Paige who were the lights of his life. He is preceded in death by his father and first wife Betty Stanley Turner. He was a loving husband, son, brother and "Papa" who was loved by all and will be missed by many especially his feline companions, "Alvin" & "Theodore" who comforted him in his final days. He was a member The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Howard Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Horne officiating. Followed by burial in the Snow Hill City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm. on Monday, July 2, 2012. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Donnie and Peggy Stancill of 4730 Braxton Road in Grifton.
