KINSTON - Hillegonda Louise Frankfort Matthijs, age 77, of 2304 Hodges Road passed away at her residence on Wednesday, June 27, 2012. Mrs. Matthijs was born February 18, 1935, in Indonesia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudi Matthijs who passed in 1999; and her daughter-in-law, Amanda Roszkowski Matthijs who passed away in 2009. She was a retired nurse's aid and previously lived in Edison, N.J. until moving to Kinston in 1987. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Wanda Neely officiating, followed by a graveside service at 3 p.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston. She is survived by five sons, Franklin Matthijs of Goldsboro, N.C., Erick Matthijs of Holmdel, N.J., Glenn Matthijs of Metuchen, N.J., Rudolf Matthijs of Colonia, N.J. and Hans Matthijs of Greenville, N.C.; two daughters, Maritza Taylor of Annandale, Va. and Debra Place of Mendham, N.J.; two brothers, Hans Frankfort of Kinston, N.C. and Sietze Frankfort of Montclair, N.J.; a sister, Lena Van Rhoon of Osterhout, Netherlands; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family will receive friends at First Presbyterian Church at 1 p.m. Thursday until service time. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church for The Memorial Garden 201 North Heritage St. Kinston, N.C. 28501. Arrangements are with Edwards Funeral Home.
