Daylight Store history extracted from the NR News:
March 1 1910 - Elmer Arnquist and cousin Charles Sabin Arnquist, (C. S. or best known as Doc), bought out C. W. Arnquist's shares. Doc had to borrow the $3000 required. C. W. continues to work but was no longer part owner. Doc was 20 years old at the time and had been working at the Ward S. Williams store in town. Elmer
took over the clothing part of the business and named it Arnquist Clothing Company. Doc managed the dry goods and groceries.

July 1913 - Doc and Robert M. Anderson bought out the dry goods and grocery portion and called it Arnquist & Anderson. Doc managed the groceries and Robert managed the dry goods. Elmer continued to manage the clothing part of the business. C. W. Arnquist then retired.
April 1916 - Doc bought out Anderson's shares. The name, The Daylight Store was then adopted. The store had window exposures to the south and west and sunshine would stream through the large plate glass windows emitting in much daylight, thus came the name. Daylight Store.
1919 - Doc moved the store to where most of us remember the store being located, (the current New Richmond News Office). The entire front of the store was made of brick, plate glass, copper and a transom of six-inch prism glass. With its windows facing the east, there was a flood of daylight coming into the store in the morning hours. The name was still fitting to the store.
1920 - Doc's brother Lyman became a partner and the store's name was changed to C. S. Arnquist & Bro.
1946 - Doc's son Sabin joined the company and operated under the name of C. S. Arnquist and Son.
1955 - The grocery line was dropped and Sabin took over the management of the store with Doc retiring.
1981 - The Daylight Store closed its doors for the last time. Various members of the Arnquist family had been serving the community as merchants for nearly 80 years.
