Olava Delpha Harsted was born and baptized in Stavanger, Norway. Arriving in the United States at the age of two, she was later confirmed and became a vocalist in the Rowe, Illinois, Lutheran Church choir. Unfortunately, her throat became temporarily paralyzed with a severe condition, and this terminated her singing.

Livvy was married to Edward Peterson, of Danish descent, on February 22, 1899, and they took up farming near Fairbury, Illinois, Olava and Ed moved to Resellear, Indiana, later farmed in South Dakota, but lost their place during a ten year drouth. They returned to Illinois and became active in the used furniture and antique business. By this time, Ed was suffering from glaucoma and Olava had to assume much of the responsibility of running the enterprise.

Olava died of a heart attack in 1947 and is buried in the Pontiac Southside Cemetery, lot ten, block eleven, second addition, Peterson plot.

Edward Peterson, over ninety years old, resides with his daughter, Blanche, and her husband at 17319 Horace Street, Granada Hills, California.

Note: Edward Peterson was my great uncle. I knew both him and Livie. When Uncle Ed passed away in California, his daughter, Blanche, had him returned to Pontiac to be buried by his wife, parents Peter and Sille Peterson, and his sister, Hansenna Marie. Sena was my grandmother. Arlene Weber Mabis
