TAHLEQUAH — TILLMAN, Joe M., 88, rock miner, died Sunday. Services 2 p.m. Thursday, Green Country Funeral Home Chapel, Tahlequah, Green Country Funeral Home, Tahlequah.

Joe M. Tillman, was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on January 10, 1924,to Albert Henry Tillman, and Sarah Retha (Wheiles) Tillman. He died July 1, 2012 at the age of 88 years.
He was married to Laura Marie Perry on November 26, 1949, and had 50 years together before her death in 2000. From this union came two children, Serena and W.J.
Joe was a resident of the Woodall Community for 62 years. He worked on the railroad when he was newly married but changed jobs to be closer to home. Joe retired from Arkola after 33 years.
Joe was always happiest when talking, and made friends easily. He never met a stranger.
His grandchildren and great grandchildren were always happy to be with Pa-Pa, and he loved being with them also.
He has been preceded in death by his parents, Albert Henry Tillman, and Sarah Retha (Wheiles) Tillman; wife, Laura Tillman; brothers, Albert and Elmo Tillman; sisters, Gracie Ritchie, Lily Moss, and Serena Jacobs,
Those left behind to remember him are his daughter, Serena Geary and husband Jake; son, W.J. Tillman and wife Brenda; grandchildren, Jason Geary and wife Mary, Jana Bean and husband Shawn, April Kennedy and husband Brandon, Ashley Sloan and husband Cody, and Kim Johnson; great grandchildren, Zach Geary, Haden Bean, Rob Geary, Chad Geary, Clistia Geary, Kailey Kennedy, Brett Geary, De-Van Geary, Kalli Kennedy, Starr Johnson, Braylynn Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
