Mrs. Margaret A. Smith Dies Monday At Toledo

Mrs. Margaret A. Smith of Chehalis, 68 year old native daughter of Lewis county, died Monday afternoon at Toledo, failing to rally from major operation. She was born on Boistfort Prairie, Aug. 22, 68 years ago and spent practically her entire life in Lewis county. Her father, Rev. Martin Roundtree was one of the earliest pastors of the Christian church in southwest Washington, his people having located in that district in the '50's. Mrs. Smith, who was a lifelong member of the Christian church, was the widow of the late George Smith, well known timber cruiser, who died in 1929. She was one of five sisters of her family who recently held one of their periodical reunions in Chehalis. The others, who have survived her, are Mrs. Addie Athow of Colbert, near Spokane; Mrs. Emma Salzer of Centralia; Mrs. U.E. Harmon of Tacoma and Mrs. Charles H. Sweany of Chehalis; a brother, Charles Harris lives in Seattle. Other surviving relatives are members of Mrs. Smiths own family, as follows: two sons, Ellsworth and Allen Smith of Toledo, whom she was visiting when taken ill; four daughters, Mrs. Bessie Selisch of New Richfield, Ohio; Mrs. Iola Smith of The Dalles, Ore.; Mrs. Mary Withrell of Centralia; and Mrs. Dora Ellen Lee of Astoria, Ore.; and 9 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Chehalis Christian church at 2 p.m. yesterday. Rev. Carl Johnson officiating. Burial was in Mt. View Cemetery, directed by Boone's Mortuary.
