Charles A. Bortz, 81, of Hellertown, died Saturday, October 14, 2006 in his residence. Born in Allentown on March 26, 1925, he was the son of the late Harold M. and Estella (Beck) Bortz. Charles worked for the U.S. Merchant Marines in various parts the majority of his life. He was a graduate of Princeton University, Princeton, N.J. and served his country honorably during World War II in the U.S. Army 517th Division, Paratroopers.

Survivors: Sister, Frances A. Aull of Baltimore, Md.; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Eva M. Goldman, who died February 23, 1994.

Services: Family and friends are invited to call 10-11 a.m. Thursday in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, 326 Main Street, Hellertown. The service will be at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
