James E. Adams, age 81, died Monday, May 19, 2003, in a Hartsville nursing center. Graveside funeral services will be 5:00 p.m. Wednesday in Black Creek Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Mr. Adams was born in Darlington County, son of the late Kinchen and Daisey O'Neal Adams. He served his country with the United State Army and was a retired farmer. He worked at Sav-Way in Hartsville, where he was known as "Doc". He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Tyner Adams and son, Kenny Adams, both of Darlington; also, four sisters, Peggy Suggs, Eva Humphries, Margaret Moody, and Patricia Andrews, all of Darlington.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of Dennis Tyner, 1332 Dovesville Highway, Darlington.
