Richard Moore was a well-known Baptist minister, Chaplain of the Royal Arch Masons, Roanoke Chapter 100, treasurer of Randolph County, and a Confederate soldier. He served in the 31st Alabama Infantry, Co H, as 4th Sgt. but ranked out as 1st Sgt. He fought in the Battle of Missionary Ridge and Baker's Creek. He married 1st Sarah Ann Weaver on July 24, 1864. He married 2nd Mary Emma Staples Reaves born 1877-died 1960. He was the son of Gideon Iddings Moore and Frances Reeves. His oldest daughter was Frances Aurelia Prudence Moore who married Alonzo Woodville Duke.
