Funeral services for E.H. Reavis, for fifty years a resident of Grinnell and vicinity were held from the Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. A.B. Cadwell. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.
Elisha Huston Reavis was born in Yadkinville, North Carolina, on July 7th, 1867, and departed this life on January 1st, 1931, in Grinnell. He came to this county with his parents in the spring of 1879, at the age of 12 years.
He was united in marriage on October 14, 1891, to Minnie A. Morgan and lived on farms near Grinnell until 1902, where he lived the remainder of this life, except four years spent in Missouri.
He is survived by his wife and eight children who were all at his bedside during his last illness. They are, Naomi Pierce of Brooklyn, Velma Gooding of Newton, Myrtle Reavis and Ida Brown of Kansas City, Clara Davenport, Amy Reavis, and Milo Reavis of Grinnell, and Floyd Reavis of Newton.
His aged father, 90 years old, who was at his bedside when he passed away also survives as do four brothers, three sisters, and thirteen grandchildren.
He united with the Methodist Church at Blue Point when a young man, and remained firm in the faith until his death.
