Hassan A. Buck was born on Nov. 20, 1840,
in Medina, Orleans County New York.
Rhoda's husband Hassan served in the
Civil War, in the 7th Michigan Calvary,
Company D (under Brigadier General
George A. Custer). The 7th Calvary was
organized in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Hassan was wounded by gunshot, on
the right side, in the War, and then
he lived in National Soldier's Homes.
Hassan died on Dec. 9, 1921, in the
National Soldiers Home in Los Angeles,
California. He is buried in the
Los Angeles National Cemetery, in
Los Angeles, Los Angeles County
California
(in Section 42, Row M, Site # 11).
(His burial records incorrectly have
him listed as serving in Company "K",
when it should say Company "D").
