Mrs. Ellen Mae Rice, 88, of 307 East Walnut St., Carrier Mills, formerly of Stonefort, died at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 1997, in Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

On June 6, 1925, she married Earl Lee Price [Rice], who preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1994.

Mrs. Rice was born on July 17, 1909, in Williamson County, to the late William and Courtney Chaney.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Peggy) Gulley and Joann Dunn, both of Carrier Mills; a sister, Betty Lou Feazel of Dupo; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a daughter, Rosemary Rice, a son, Billy Earl Rice; a grandson, Dean Dunn; five great-great-grandchildren, and two brothers.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday. The Rev. Jeff Mitchell will officiate and burial will be in Providence Cemetery.
