Martha Elizabeth Thomas, 81, long-time resident of Buena Vista, died on April 4, 2011, at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, Salida, after a long illness. Martha was born in 1929 in Ovid. She came to Buena Vista in 1950, where she met and married James S. Thomas in 1951. She retired from the Buena Vista Public Library where she was a librarian for many years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, her brother and a son-in-law. She is survived by her husband, daughter, son, daughter-in-law, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Runyan Mortuary in Buena Vista at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 16. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Buena Vista Heritage Museum.
