Charles Perkins was the only child of Clarence Alvie Perkins and Edna May Hallowell. He was a dairyman most of his life, managing the dairy farm at the Augusta State Hospital for many years. He married Marguerite Rose Christian on August 28, 1941 in Augusta. Together they raised three daughters, Marsha Elaine, Cheryl Bonnie, and Debra Ann.
