Floyd Clyde Andrews ,
age 72,of 4829 Grafton Road,Greensboro ,N.C. passed away Monday ,August 2, 2004 at the Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Andrews was born in Chatham Country. He was retired from Edgecomb Steel Company,after 29 years of service. Floyd Andrews was the organizer of The Gethsemane Quartet for 52 years ,with his wife Penny ,and sang Southern Gospel music for 55 years .The quartet had various members through the years .In 1994, Floyd and Penny retired and sold the group. Since that time , Floyd and Penny ministered together in song as a duo,they also did a radio program twice a week called "Mid Morning Manna," a broadcast that originated from their home church Mcleansville Baptist , where Dr. Jack Lemons is the pastor. Floyd was well known for his love for the Lord,his genorisity and kindness to others ,and his very unique ability to encourage others will long be remembered.Floyd and Penny Andrews ,the official Ambassadors of WPET Radio AM 950 , Greensboro,North Carolina.
Mr. Andrews was a faithful member of The McLeansville Baptist Church.Survived by his wife Minnie B. Penny Andrews,son Ted Mark Andrews and his wife Cindy ,and two grandchildren,Madison Whitney Andrews,and Chelsea Nicole Andrews of Greensboro. A host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was also aired over WPET AM 950 Greensboro,North Carolina.
