OBITUARY :
HELEN ELIZABETH ARNOLD, 92, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012, at NMS Healthcare of Hagerstown.

Born Feb. 26, 1920, in Brownsville, Md., she was the daughter of Pauline and Charles Arnold. She was an only child and there are no known living relatives.

She is survived by her good friend, Judith Lewis Martin; and her godsons, Jeffrey and Richard Martin.

Miss Arnold was a graduate of Boonsboro High School and Columbia Business College. She was a longtime employee of Potomac Edison Co., where she retired as an executive secretary responsible for the company library. She was very proud of her involvement with the construction of the R. Paul Smith power plant in Williamsport, Md., and the power plant in Front Royal, Va.

During World War II, she worked at the M.P. Moller pipe organ plant, constructing airplane wings for the Fairchild Trainer.

Miss Arnold was a fine seamstress, and was best known for her activities with the local rose society and local garden clubs. She was both a contestant and judge at many rose shows.

We wish to thank Hospice of Washington County and the staff of NMS Healthcare of Hagerstown for their fine care of Miss Arnold.

A visitation for friends and colleagues will be Friday, June 29, 2012, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, Md. Burial will be at her family's burial plot at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Brownsville.

The omission of flowers is requested. Donations in Miss Arnold's name may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
