Fred Nelson Akers married Nelda Rose Peacock on 7 July 1950 in Graham. Fred worked for Young County as a heavy machine operator for 38 years. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Graham. Survivors include his wife; one son; two daughters; one brother; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Akers in 1983 and brothers, Carl and Floyd Akers, and a great grandson, Shawn Ireland McFadden, Jr.
