MITCHELL: Luther "Jack" E. Mitchell, 62, passed away Friday morning at Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso, Texas, following a brief illness. Mr. Mitchell was a native of Rule, Texas, and had lived in Grant County for the past 58 years. At the time of his deathe he was working as an Electric Shovel Operator for Kennecott Copper Corp. and had been employed by them for about the last 39 years. He is survived by: his wife, Mrs. Ruth M Mitchell of Bayard, one son, Walter E. Mitchell of Silver City, three grandchildren, his father, L.E. Mitchell of Pinos Altos, two brothers, Raymond Mitchell of Silver City, and James Mitchell of Albuquerque, two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Thomas of Silver City, and Mrs Jewell Pearse of Arbuckle, Calif. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Arenas Valley Community Church with Rev. Eugene A Bjork officiating. Interment will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery.
