Tilford Thomas Brooks & his twin, Tilman Dixon Brooks were born 16 Jun 1819 in Jackson Co., TN to Matthew Brooks and Mary Polly (Harrell) Brooks.
"The Jackson County [TN] Family History Book" published by the Jackson Co., TN Genealogical Society reported the following:
1 .By 1804 they [Matthew & Mary Brooks] had moved to Jackson Co. TN and had 12 children all born in Jackson Co. He [Mathew] died in Jackson Co., TN on 15 Nov 1846.
2. All of the Brooks children raised large families (except Martha, who had no children). Matthew and Mary Brooks had at least 102 grandchildren (it's also reported that they had 85 grandchildren).
3. A newspaper article published 16 Jun 1904 claimed that their twins, Tilman and Tilford, were, at the age of 85, "the world's oldest living twins".
