George Denny died at Crockett clinic at age 88. His usual residence was 108 N. Ninth Street, Crockett. He was married and a bookkeeper at an auto agency. His parents were Dr. William H. & Frances Wooten Denny.

George Howell Denny, 88, a retired bookkeeper, died in a local hospital Monday following a brief illness. A native of Crockett, Mr. Denny was born on Oct 18, 1875. A member of the First Presbyterian Church, he was an officer of the church for over 30 years. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and Woodmen of the World Lodges. Mr. Denny served two terms as tax collector of Houston County. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Andrew Byers pastor of the church, officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Larry (?), Tod (?), Will Arch Payne, William H. Baker, Murdock Baker, Will Ike Kennedy, Dr. Carter Anderson and Denny Collins. All deacons and elders of the church were honorary pallbearers. Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Lucy Mae Baker Denny of Crockett, a son William Murdock Denny of Schenectady, N. Y., two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
