On Nov. 14, 1901 he was united in marriage to Sophia Logan.
They moved to the town of Forest, St. Croix county in 1902 and farmed there until 1942. In 1942, they moved to Star Prairie, Wisconsin and lived with their youngest daughter Edna, while her husband Jim was serving in WW II. When Jim came home from the war, he built them a home right along side of his and Edna's.
Hans was preceded in death by his wife Sophia, parents Elling and Mathilda Michelson, two brother Louis and Albert Ellingson, one son Carl and one daughter Ada.
Surviving are three sons, Helmer, Adolph and Curtis; two daughters, Stella and Edna; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
