Allen Herbert Long, 77, of Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, Va., died Sunday, March 2, 1998, in UVA Hospital, Charlottesville, Va. He was the husband of Myrtle Long of Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove', Va. Bom Aug. 27, 1920, in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Ammon and Molly Bordner Long and was a retired deputy director of Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., where he served from 1979-1985. He worked for the Veterans Administration Cemetery Division from 1965-1985. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of Lake of the Woods Lions Club, American Legion Post 265, Hummelstown, VFW Post 3103, Fredericksburg, Va., and Moose Lodge 410, Middletown. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters Barbara Ann Deimler, Lemoyne, Allyn Loise Long, Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, Va., Dixie Jean Wynkoop, Richmond, Va., and Cheryl Marie Hanson, Dearwood, Minn.; a sister, Eulalia Cascarino, Lebanon; seven grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.
