Roberta Maxine Bain, 92, passed away at 10:35 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Stone Bridge Senior Living Center, surrounded by her loved ones.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Leffler-Poulson Funeral Home in Benton with the Rev. Harlen Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Liberty-Ridlin Cemetery in Macedonia. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Free Will Baptist Church, 1208 E. Bond St., Benton, IL 62812, and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Roberta was born Oct. 19, 1919, the daughter of Walter and Mary Florence (Biggs) Moss. She married Napoleon Alva Bain on Feb. 5, 1938. He preceded her in death July 2, 1968.

She worked as a nurse's aide at Franklin Hospital and Skilled Care. She also worked as a cook at Ewing-Northern Grade School, from which she retired. After retirement, she was a caregiver for the elderly.

Roberta enjoyed reading, taking care of her grandkids and doing laundry. She knew how to get a stain out of anything.

She loved to feed people. Many preachers, evangelists and missionaries and their families left her home full of love and food.

Roberta was a charter member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Benton.

Surviving relatives include a son, Bill Bain and wife Anita .; daughter, Mary Bain Bauer and husband George ; seven grandchildren, Danya Bain Maas and husband Larry, Lisa Bauer Price and husband Alan, Jon Bain and wife Lynn, Carol Bain and friend Chris Gates, Kip Bauer and wife Katrina, Kim Bauer Wyant, and Greg Bain and wife Mary; 14 great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Erin and Rachel Maas, Victoria and Nicholas Price, Jaime, Justin and Emily Bain, Ilsa Bauer, Kylie, Brooke, Katlyn and Faith Wyant, and Aurora Bain; two great-great-grandchildren, Kingston Fletcher and Harlow Bain; and two sisters, Jacqueline Glover and Myrna Beckman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Bill Moss, James Moss and Charles Moss; two sisters, Pat Rowihab and Eileen Dewar; and a special cousin, Juanita Neal.
