Basil Caleb Baker was the son of Basil Baker, Sr and Lavina Haldeman Baker. He was born on the old Baker place in Deckers Prairie, TX, just northeast of Baker Cemetery. Basil became a Justice of the Peace about 1894 and married many couples on the prairie until he left office in 1904. He was married first to Anna Louisa Becker about 1881. They had six children, four daughters of whom lived to adulthood. After Anna Louisa died in 1895, Basil married Louisa Canzadie Heaton in 1896. They had four children, two sons and two daughters. Basil is buried in a marked grave near the middle of the south side of the cemetery.
