Timothy Edward "Tim" Vandiver, 47 year old lifetime Checotah resident, died Monday, June 25, 2012. He was born on Wednesday, October 14, 1964 in Muskogee to Donald and Shirley Martin Vandiver. Tim grew up in Checotah where he received his education, graduation from Checotah High School on 1982. Tim married the love of his life, Angie Parker in Checotah on Saturday, April 2, 1983. At the age of 7, Tim was saved at the Shady Grove Church and baptized in Boyd Spears farm pond. After graduation, Tim began working construction for Nick Scott. Later he went to work for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, becoming a supervisor in 1994 and the superintendent of the Checotah Interstate Maintenance for Oklahoma Department of Transportation in 2005. Because of his hard work and dedication to his job and his co-workers he was named "Employee of the Year" last year. Tim enjoyed fishing, camping, fish fries, but nothing compared to the love he had for his wife, children and grandchildren. He was known as a loving, kind-hearted, gentle man. He was his son's best friend and the family's rock. Tim will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. He was preceded in death by his dad, Donald "Ray" Vandiver and his grandparents. Tim is lovingly survived by his wife Angie of the home; children, Wes Vandiver and his wife Tara, daughters, Amanda and Miranda Vandiver; six grandchildren, Jayda Vandiver, Paysley Vandiver, Layna Vandiver, Rayley Vandiver, Aryah Vandiver and Rylan Villines, all of Checotah. He is also survived by his mother, Shirley Vandiver; brother Mark Vandiver; mother and father-in-law, Joyce and Elmer Parker; Brother-in-law, Matt Parker and his wife Lori all of Checotah; five nephews, Paden, David and his wife Andrea, Baylee, Cade and Jordan; two nieces, Ashley and Morgan; Danny Vandiver and family of Muskogee, Bill Vandiver and family of Tulsa, Nick Vandiver and family of Lewis Delaware and Scott Vandiver of Ft. Gibson, other extended family and a lifetime of friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, June 29, 2012 at First Free Will Baptist Church Family Life Center with Mark Vandiver, officiating. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in the Vandiver Family Cemetery
