William R. Abercrombie, 67, 2701 Waldemere Ave., died Sunday in Parkview Nursing Center after a brief illness.

Mr. Abercrombie was born in Florence, Ala., and had been a Delaware County resident for most of his life. A World War II Navy veteran, he was a graduate of Central High School and Purdue University.

Mr. Abercrombie was chief engineer for Dayton-Walther Corp. before retiring in 1994. He also owned and operated Abercrombie Enterprises, Inc. He was a member of Avondale United Methodist Church.

He also was a member of Muncie Lodge 433 F&AM, Muncie Council and Commandery 18, Eastern Star Chapter 104, Marvin Isley York Rite College of Shelbyville, Muncie York Rite, Delaware County Scottish Rite, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne, Murat Temple of Indianapolis, Murpah Shrine Club, High Twelve CLub 699, a life member of Knights of the York Cross of Honor, Grand Council Order of High Priesthood of Indiana and the Royal Order of Scotland.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. Calling will be 4-7 p.m. today at the mortuary. Muncie Lodge 433 F&AM will conduct a Masonic service at 6 p.m. today at the mortuary.
