"Doris Marie (Stephens) Collins, 94, went on angels wings to her eternal life on Thursday, May 8, 2014, in Kansas City, MO.

She was born on February 3, 1920, to Frederick, Sr., and Edna (Smith) Stephens in Boise, ID. Doris was a long time member of the Bethany Christian Church. She always loved being a part of the church and all activities pertaining to it. On February 3, 1937, she married Richard H. Collins and together they farmed in Andrew and Nodaway Counties for more than 60 years. For about 25 of the 60 years they also operated a Grade A Dairy.

Semi-retiring in 1998, they moved to Savannah, MO, while still maintaining 50 acres and cattle. In 2011, she moved to Kansas City, MO, to live with her daughter Linda and son in law, Charles. Due to the progression of Parkinson's disease, she had to move into Golden Living Center in Smithville, MO, in 2013, and finally to The Nesting Place in Gladstone, MO.

Her beloved husband, Richard Collins (Dick), of 69 years went to be with his Lord in 2006, and their only son, Lawrence (Larry) went into the arms of the Lord in 2012. Also preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Ellis, Richard and Frederick Stephens, Jr.; and three sisters, Betty King, Mary Drydale, and Esther Pearson.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Kay McKown and husband Charles, of Kansas City, MO; daughter-in-law, Donna Collins, of Kansas City, KS; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Arletta and Pauline Stephens; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Drydale and Wayne Pearson; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

The family would like to thank all the people that helped with Doris' care, including Dr. James Day, Caring Nurses, Crossroads Hospice, Golden Living Center at Smithville, MO., and Kathy and Lawson Byrd of The Nesting Place in Gladstone, MO. Without their help we could not have made the last months of Doris's life as comfortable as it was. A celebration of her life will at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. The burial will be in the Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville, MO. Memorial donations are suggested to the Parkinson's Association, or the Alzheimer's Organization, in her name."
