Harrison McCoy was the son of John "Buttermilk" and Nancy Webb McCoy. He married Alifair Morrison, daughter of Ben Morrison, on April 10, 1890, and they had two sons, Benny and Pete. Alifair died sometime between Pete's birth in 1892 and Harrison's marriage to Minnie Jemima "Aunt Sis" Smith, daughter of Hawk and Polly Taylor Smith, 0n April 6, 1895. No picture has been found of Alifair. Harrison and Sis had a son Landon.
Harrison was very active in Big Branch Church along with Thomas McCoy and others. In July and August, 1907, he was listed as the clerk of the church. In October, 1908, plans were made to ordain him as a deacon. In March, 1909, he along with Thomas McCoy, was ordained a deacon of the church. In May, 1911, he is listed as being on a committee for the church. In October, 1911, he was on a committee with J.E. Taylor and Thomas McCoy to select a site to build a Big Branch church house. (Big Branch did not get its own building until 1952.)
In 1920, Harrison was one of the delegates appointed to the Sardis Association meeting. Big Branch church records say that he was baptized in 1932 by Heenon Maynard and J.E. Taylor. (The date must have been copied wrong, for by that time he had been involved in helping run the church for more than 25 years. The date may have been 1904.)
There is no mention of which Thomas McCoy was active in Big Branch Church with him.
