James C. Killian, 66, long-time Idaho game department employee, died Saturday, Jan. 4, at his home in Garfield, ID, following a year's illness. A former resident of Swan Valley and Star Valley, he was well known in this area.

He was born Aug 20, 1891, at Elsinore, UT, a son of Henry Lebius and Elizabeth Staples Killian. He spent his early life at Poplar, ID, where his father homesteaded. He married Myrtle Vail on Feb 28, 1917.

He served in World War I in France. Upon his return he farmed in Star Valley until he began work for the game department in Idaho. He served eight years as game warden and as an employee of the game department for 20 years. During this time he lived in Swan Valley. Later they moved to Idaho Falls, where they resided until 1950, when they moved to Garfield.

Besides his widow he is survived by 3 daughters [names deleted], 3 grandchildren, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan 8 at the Garfield LDS Chapel with Bishop Lorin P. Michelson conducting. Military rites were conducted by the American Legion Lloyd Crystal Post No. 29 with burial in the Fielding Memorial Park in Idaho Falls under the direction of the Eckersell Funeral Home.
