Rites for Mrs. Elwood are Held Here Friday

Funeral services for Mrs. Ray Elwood, 87, who died May 10 at the local hospital following a long illness, were conducted Friday afternoon at the Methodist Church. The Rev. Theo Krumrey, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were six grandsons, Keith Stingley, Neil Stingley, Kenneth Elwood, Richard Elwood, Marvin Elwood Jr. and Duane Dohmen.

Josephine Carlson was born July 8, 1878 at Cedar Bluffs, the daughter of John and Helen Carlson. She was married to Ray Elwood on June 8, 1890. Three children were born to them.

They lived on a farm until retiring and moving into Creighton, where she lived the remainder of her life. She was baptized in the Swedish Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her two daughters, Mrs. Andy (Alma) Dohmen and Mrs. Delma (Doris) Stingley of Creighton; one son, Marvin Elwood of Plainview; six grandsons and 17 great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Pearle Baker and Mrs. Al Anderson of Los Angeles, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 18 of this year, her parents and two brothers.
