William Boyd Monroe was born in Caldwell Twp, Appanoose Co. Iowa. The family farm was located in Caldwell Twp., only one mile from Exline ,Iowa. His son, Frank Edgar Monroe's Delayed Iowa birth Certificate in 1888 gives this same location..

Note:
Suggested edit: William Boyd's death occurred in rural Hibbing, St. Louis County, Minnesota, while he was visiting his son Frank Edgar Monroe. His son filed a missing persons report. Months later Boyd's decomposed body was found by berry pickers. No autopsy could be performed due to condition of the body, the cause of death remains unknown. A possible fall, a stroke or some natural cause is to blame. My grandfather Frank Edgar Monroe never talked about it.
